What is HTML?

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the standard markup language used to create and design documents on the World Wide Web. HTML structures the content on the web, including text, images, links, and other multimedia, making it essential for web development and design.

Loss of Formatting

When converting Excel to HTML, the original formatting such as fonts, colors, and cell styles may not be preserved, leading to a plain and less visually appealing output.

Data Overflow

Excel sheets can contain a lot of data, and when converting to HTML, large datasets may not fit well within the web page layout, causing overflow or readability issues.

Link and Reference Issues

Links and references within Excel (such as hyperlinks or formulas referencing other cells) may not convert properly to HTML, which can disrupt navigation and data integrity.

Compatibility Problems

Different web browsers may render HTML documents generated from Excel differently, leading to inconsistencies in how the content is displayed, which can affect user experience.

What are the differences between XLSX and XLS?

File Format

XLSX is the modern file format used by Microsoft Excel, introduced with Excel 2007, and is based on the Open XML standard. In contrast, XLS is the older binary file format used by earlier versions of Excel up to 2003.

File Size

XLSX files are generally smaller in size compared to XLS files because they use Zipping compression, making it more efficient for storage and sharing.

Data Capacity

XLSX supports a significantly larger amount of data, allowing for up to 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns per worksheet, while XLS is limited to 65,536 rows and 256 columns.

Features and Functions

XLSX files support newer features and functions available in Excel 2007 and later versions, such as improved charting tools, Sparklines, and enhanced formulas. XLS files do not have access to these advanced features.
